LimeBike will kick-off the city-wide expansion of the bike share program at First Friday on Friday, August 4th at 5:30 pm. Come out on Friday to the block of 513 South Elm Street to take a test drive and find out more about the program.
Earlier this month, City Council approved a two-year agreement that allows LimeBike to offer bicycles for a fee anywhere in the city limits. People can use the LimeBike app to locate and rent a bicycle for $1 per half hour. LimeBike is already offered on the UNCG campus for $0.50 per half hour for students, faculty and staff. LimeBike plans to deliver 800 more three-speed bikes to Greensboro to be used at UNCG, NC A&T and in downtown Greensboro in early August. Downtown Greensboro Inc. and Action Greensboro officials are working with center city merchants to identify locations where the bikes can be parked.
After the official bike share celebration stay for First Friday on the Block from 6-9pm on S. Elm St between MLK Jr. Drive & Lewis Street. Talk to representatives from LimeBike, listen to great music, participate in trivia, and grab some food. Click here for the event flyer.

Join us for drop-in Public Meetings for Phase 4 on Tuesday, August 15 from 11:30-1 pm and 4:30-6 pm at The Public at Morehead Foundry located at 433-105 Spring Garden Street.
The focus of this meeting will be on the railroad corridor along the western edge of downtown heading northwest from Spring Garden Street to just north of Benjamin Parkway and the Mitchell Water Treatment Plant. The public is invited to review the designs at the 50% stage of completion. Representatives from Kimley-Horn, GDOT, and Action Greensboro will be present to explain, answer questions and receive comments. There will be no formal presentation.

Public meetings to review 50% design of Phase 1c along Bragg Street have been set for Tuesday, August 22nd from 4:30-6 pm at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church located at 408 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Parking will be available in the church parking lot. Members of the project team will be available to answer questions and feedback received from the public will be used to fine-tune the design.

We are partnering with Bryan YMCA for the 5th year to provide great instructors and classes for FREE on the Downtown Greenway.
Classes start on May 2 and run every Tuesday from 6:00 -7:00 pm May-June and August-October at Morehead Park Trailhead Parking Area (475 Spring Garden Street). No classes in July due to heat and vacations-- stay cool!

Ground Here neighborhood art bench was dedicated in its new home at the newly finished The Salvation Army Royce and Jane Reynolds Center for Worship and Service and Boys & Girls Club on Tuesday, May 23. The Salvation Army has operated in Greensboro since 1904. They have had several different locations, though never further than a mile or so from downtown Greensboro. In September 2016, they located their Worship Center and Boys & Girls Club in the new facility adjacent to the Southeastern Greenway located just south of the Downtown Greenway. The connection with the Warnersville Neighborhood and the Downtown Greenway is enhanced with the addition of Grounded Here to the Salvation Army’s campus.
Grounded Here is located at the Salvation Army & Boys Club located at 1001 Freeman Mill Road at in the grassy area to the side of the building near the Southeastern Greenway. The Downtown Greenway, Greensboro Downtown Parks, Folk Festival & City of Greensboro has collaborated on the 2017 Urban Parks Booklet. The booklet lists many of the free things to do in downtown Greensboro and around town this spring, summer and fall that includes fitness, music, and the arts.
