Phillips Foundation gives $1.5 million to Downtown Greenway

The Phillips Foundation has given a $1.5 million grant to the Downtown Greenway, giving the foundation naming rights for Phase 4 of the project which will follow the railroad tracks from Spring Garden to Hill Street.  Design firm Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc has been selected to do the design work for this section. Elizabeth Phillips, Executive Director of Phillips Foundation, said “Our Downtown Greenway will be the only trail of its kind in North Carolina and one of just a few in the country.”  Construction expected to begin in 2017.
