Brian Higgins

After moving to Greensboro, Pacific Northwest native Brian Higgins wasted no time in utilizing his master’s degree in landscape design. He started Sustainable Greensboro, a clearinghouse for information and a catalyst for advancing sustainability in Greensboro.  Sustainable Greensboro’s progress has also provided Brian with other opportunities, specifically a seat on the Downtown Greenway Technical Team.  Since the completion of Phase 1 of the Downtown Greenway, Brian has used the Greenway to connect from his Glenwood neighborhood to the places he both works and plays. And, Brian has been a leader in encouraging others to connect by using the Greenway. On February 1, 2012, he rallied members of the Glenwood neighborhood to walk to the opening of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum using the Greenway.  Even through the early morning ice storm, the Greenway proved to be both a safe and comfortable path to connect with the festivities in Greensboro.
