Greensboro Downtown Greenway Walking Tours

Free guided walking tours of the Downtown Greenway are a great way to explore and learn all the intricacies of the greenway. Join us to learn how the greenway came to be, Greensboro’s history, surrounding neighborhoods, public art installations, environmental stewardship, community stories, economic impact, future projects, and more.

Tours start and finish at LoFi Park (500 N. Eugene Street) and are led by Program Coordinator, Chelsea Phipps, or Project Manager, Dabney Sanders. Each tour is approximately 3 hours and will cover the entire 4-mile loop, including the three miles of completed greenway and also the future section currently under construction along the western side.

Tours are offered monthly (dates vary) on Saturday mornings from 9 am to 12 noon from February through November. Space is limited to 25 people for each tour.

Greensboro Downtown Greenway Golf Cart Tours

For those looking for a shorter and more accessible tour option, consider a golf cart tour of the Downtown Greenway. Join us to learn how the greenway came to be, Greensboro’s history, surrounding neighborhoods, public art installations, environmental stewardship, community stories, economic impact, future projects, and more.

Led by Project Manager, Dabney Sanders, each tour will take 1.5 hours to complete the 4-mile loop of the Downtown Greenway, and will start and finish at the corner of S. Elm Street and E. Gate City Boulevard (702 S. Elm Street).

Tours are offered various days/times from February through June and September through November. Space is limited to 5 guests per tour. A donation of $10 per person is suggested, however, not required; these funds help ensure the continuity of these tours.

Greensboro Downtown Greenway Free Audio Tour

The Downtown Greenway is proud to offer a free audio tour through the Otocast app, available for download on iOS and Android devices.

Otocast provides a self-paced narrated audio guide to help you explore and discover more about the Downtown Greenway, our public art, gardens, and other spaces along the way. Using geo-location technology, the app automatically shares useful information and historical insights about the points of interest you see as you navigate your way along the greenway. Including insights into the artists’ inspiration and creative process, this audio tour is an enriching introduction to the Downtown Greenway.
