Looking towards 2016

Reid Phillips, with Brooks Pierce law firm and 2016 chairman of the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro, writes about what Greensboro has to look forward to in 2016 in the January 3rd issue of the News & Record.  Phillips says that "our quality of life assets will be rediscovered" and mentions Greensboro's growing system of trails and greenways, that include the Downtown Greenway.  Read the article in full.

Bi-Ped Plan for Greensboro adopted

Great news! The Bi-Ped plan has been adopted by the Greensboro MPO (Metropolitan Planning Organization)! It is a well thought out plan that recommends and prioritizes the addition of bike/ped facilities throughout the community including a high priority to complete the Downtown Greenway and the continuation of the Atlantic & Yadkin Greenway. We're thrilled that our community will benefit from this great plan for our future. Responses to comments from Phase 2 Public Meetings

Thank you to those who were able to attend the Public Meetings for Phase 2 on April 27, 2015.  Over 60 people attended and shared questions and comments about the 50% design for the revised plan for Phase 2 of the Downtown Greenway. Click here to review the responses to the questions and comments posed at the public meetings and on the surveys. We will have the 100% plans for Phase 2 completed in October and expect construction to begin in late summer 2016. Go to the complete construction timeline.  

Innovation Cornerstone Artists Coming to Greensboro

Four finalists for the Innovation Cornerstone (NE) will visit Greensboro to share ideas for the next cornerstone on the Downtown Greenway. Each finalist will come to Greensboro for a 3 day visit and will participate in a public presentation of their work and public meeting to get feedback from the community. All public meetings will be at Action Greensboro (203 South Church St) from 5:30-6:30 pm. See public meeting schedule below. Call to Artists for Innovation Cornerstone

The Downtown Greenway continues to move forward with a Call to Artists for the design of a Public Art Cornerstone and Accessible Playground, including site design, at the Innovation Cornerstone site at the corner of Lindsay and Murrow Boulevard. Action Greensboro is seeking submissions of interest and qualifications from professional Artists who currently reside in the United States who will work with their own Artist-led Team to design, fabricate and install the third of four major public art cornerstones to be commissioned for the Downtown Greenway.  The deadline for submissions is 5:00 pm on December 5, 2014.  For more information about the Call to Artists, please click here.  Direct questions to Barbara Peck, Greenway Public Art Consultant, at jbpeck@mac.com.
