2015 Downtown Greenway Recap

2015 planning photo

  • Completed design on eastern side along Murrow Boulevard and on the southern section from Bragg Street between Elm and Arlington.
  • Artists visits in March and April for design of next cornerstone at Lindsay and Murrow.
  • Grounded Here originally located at the trailhead parking area at Five Points at Eugene and Lee temporarily dismantled and in storage awaiting it’s new home at the new Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club to be located on the old JC Price School Property off Freeman Mill Road.
  • Randy Walker from Minneapolis, Minnesota selected to design and build the Innovation Cornerstone at the corner of Lindsay and Murrow Boulevard.  Construction to begin early 2016 and completed summer 2016.
  • The northern section from Fisher/Greene to Eugene, down Eugene from Fisher to Smith, and along Smith between Spring and Prescott: Construction anticipated for summer 2015, but has been delayed due to only one bidder with an estimate 40% higher than expected.  We plan to re-bid the project in fall 2015 or early 2016 and should have a revised timetable for construction at that time.
  • Began design of railroad corridor on west side; held public meetings in December to get feedback on design options.
